Temper	Annealing Process
O (Annealed)	This is the most ductile state of the metal, achieved by heating the metal to a high temperature to recrystallize it and then letting it cool slowly.
H1x, H2x, H3x (Strain-Hardened)	These tempers have been strain-hardened, meaning they've been cold-worked to increase their strength. They don't undergo annealing after cold working.
H4x (Strain-Hardened and Painted or Lacquered)	This temper has also been strain-hardened and then coated. It does not undergo annealing after cold working.
T4 (Solution Heat-Treated and Naturally Aged)	This temper has been heat-treated at a high temperature to dissolve the alloying elements into a solid solution and then naturally aged at room temperature.
T6 (Solution Heat-Treated and Artificially Aged)	This temper has been heat-treated at a high temperature to dissolve the alloying elements into a solid solution and then artificially aged at a controlled temperature to precipitate the alloying elements.
